"All songs commissioned by Artangel for the Margate Exodus. The original songs recorded here were performed live at the Winter Gardens in Margate on Saturday 30th September 2006, in versions sung and played by an eclectic range of local musicians and singers with the music direction by David Coulter and vocal coaching by Mary King.

The "Plague Songs" form part of "Exodus", a film written and directed by Penny Woolcock. "Exodus" re-imagines the epic biblical story of migration and the search for a promised land transposed to contemporary Margate, with local people playing the parts".
