This album concerns with the 1971 Annual East Los Angeles Championship Battle of the Band which provided young contemporary musicians of "El Barrio" a chance to really "Do their thing". In addiction to such East LA finalists as "Thee Vellords" , "Odyssey" & "Freedom Suite" , we have added giant Latino/Chicano artists who have brought worldwide prominence to the Chicano style of Rhythm & Blues. The genius of "WAR" , "Malo" , "Ralfi Pagan" and "Thee Midniters" are appropriately featured along with the legendary "Sunny Ozuna/Sunny and the Sunliners" , "Eddie Benitez" and I.T.P. 's Own "M.C. Blvd. " with his beautiful spanish rendition of Make It With You (Queiro hacerte el amor). The music on this album is the music of the past, present and future, created by young musicians who came from the barrio and who succeeded. This is their dynamic response to the anguished cry, "LET US BE HEARD. "Adapted from the original liner notes by Pablito Gordito.
