The Vermont Jazz Ensemble was formed in April 1976by a group of Vermont musicians who wanted to play big-band jazz for its own sake. Ten years later, it is still a main objective of the band. Along the way, VJE has inspired a segment of the public equally enthusiastic about its music. Thousands of Vermonters have listened and danced to the arrangments made popular by Glen Miller, Count Basie, Rob McConnell, Buddy Rich, and others. This record of the Vermont Jazz Ensemble allows our common appreciation to go another step. VJE interpretations of these ten powerful arrangments provide the listener with a ready sampling of the ensemble's wide dynamic and stylistic range - now a trademark of VJE performances.
We offer this project as a salute to the dedicated musicians, supportive public, and talented arrangers. It is for All Of Us
