Very Special Oranges sound like if Frank Sinatra/Joy Division and Bob Dylan started a band and asked Bo Diddley to join. Very Special Oranges is a San Francisco based band featuring Kevin Franke and Sara Corrigan. The debut album features mandolin, guitar, percussion, bass and some minimal keyboard. Kevin Franke has been playing music since the mid-eighties. As a boy he played piano and the uke. His mom helped him buy his first acoustic guitar and from there he started a band with some friends called, The Missing Link. After that fell apart, Kevin and his friend Marc started Vegas Voodoo. After High School a few friends Adam, Tina and Kevin started Candy Apples, which toured in Chicago, Nebraska, NorCal, SoCal and anywhere else that they could find to play. After all that, Kevin started playing music with friends, like The Long Shots and Dolly Rocker-that has two albums out "Hello Dolly Rocker" and "Funny Lullabies." The self-titled album Very Special Oranges was recorded by Kevin at home, but also from help from friends at Broken Radio; Very Special Orages attempts to channel the intensity of John Cale or blues artist, Jesse Fuller that created the fotella.
