Keeping the bar high for 2014, we welcome back Romanian producer Victor Stancov to the Soulfooled family. After a successful debut with his track ‘A Little Bit Like Hornsby’ on the ‘Soulfooled Cribs’ compilation in 2012, followed by
a remix of Bog & Paronator’s ‘Dive’ on Akbal Music just last year, we give you his debut three track EP, ‘7th Minor’.

In Stancov’s original mix of the title track, layered sounds build to a delicious crescendo, as hi-hats are joined by echoing staccato chords and a grooving bassline. Expect a melodic breakdown before the track sucks you back in to a surging finish.

The remix sees German talent Show B create a chunkier bass-filled bomb, complete with a haunting trickle that could only be described as what techno would sound like if it was rain. Like chilli in your chocolate, this remix is full of sur- prises, but really would we expect anything less from the producer, who’s had releases on Compost Black Label and Poker Flat Recordings. The third and final track, ‘In The Background’ brings a dubby bounce to the table initially, before a contrasting uplifting melody and ethereal keys create the perfect soundtrack for those hazy sunrises just around the corner.
