WISEFAKE is the project by Victor Zuo (sound) & Alice He (arts) based in Toronto, running since 2016. Zuo is member of Chinese synthpop duo Wanderlust (wanderlustsynthpopduo.bandcamp.com) which is formed in 2009. Compared with Wanderlust, WISEFAKE is more likely an experiment in the mindset of electronic sound producing and equipment exploring.In pandemic, there were more time to produce music and play games than before which caused by work-from-home policy. The addiction to Nintendo Switch, making Zuo use the new pieces of equipment fusing with the feeling of 25-year games playing experiences produce the 8th EP of WISEFAKE, . Cover art is painted and designed by Alice He.
The EP, which is full of sound exploration, is made by four semi-modular synths with no software. As WISEFAKE’s works before, also has many genres fused, such as music of video game, acg, baroque and new age. WISEFAKE uses drum-less sequencing melodies to exhibit the fantasia. From “Title Theme” to “Bad Ending”, WISEFAKE uses crystal patches to shows the joyful imagined storyline with tetrahedral scenes.
