If music is supposed to build images, then Winicjusz Chróst’s radio recordings from the 1980s are like a rushing river current which smashes against the rocks in the least expected way. “Promienie dźwięku” anthology brings together his surprising journeys into the world of fusion, plus some original songs of the artist.Winicjusz Chróst was one of the most versatile Polish guitarists, performing equally well in the blues Breakout band of Tadeusz Nalepa and in Andrzej Korzyński’s film music. After several years spent as a session musician, he opened his own studio which to this day is considered as one of the best places to record in Poland. Unfortunately, Chróst did not live until the release of his solo album, even if he had made a number of recordings for the Polish Radio under his own name. “Promienie dźwięku” collection fuses them all into a single story – about an outstanding guitarist, and even more so about an excellent composer and arranger. This is a bundle of instrumental pieces, located somewhere between jazz and rock, sometimes enriched with a solid portion of electronics, straight from the 1980s (the all-pervasive Yamaha DX7!). The whole is complemented with a selection of original songs performed by Ewa Bem (“No i co z tego dziś masz”, in its original radio version), Joanna Morska, Iza Zając and by Chróst himself!
“Promienie dźwięku” album is now released in a remastered form, from the tapes kept at the Polish Radio archives. The booklet includes the recollections by Aleksandra Chróst, the artist’s daughter, who nurtures his tradition and now manages the recording studio established by her father.
