"Szuflandia" is Wojtek Stanisz's debut as a leader. Up until now, the bassist has been known as a session musician collaborating with the leading Polish musicians from the jazz and pop scene (Varius Manx, Andrzej Piaseczny, Małgorzata Ostrowska, Krzysztof Cugowski, Krzysztof Ścierański, Wojtek Pilichowski, Michał Kobojek, Jacek Królik), as well as an educator at music workshops. The tracks on the album are between jazz and fusion with noticeable influences of world music (violin, banjo, percussion). The rich instrumentation and accessible music successfully demonstrate that "jazz is not that scary." In addition to the quartet's regular lineup, the album features guests such as Mateusz Smoczyński, Wiktor Tatarek, Barrels Cello Quartet, Wojtek Lemański, and Wojtek Kidoń. The title "Szuflandia" (World of drawers) allows for a certain freedom of interpretation - it can mean something different to everyone. I encourage you to find your own meaning, while my thoughts were inspired by old pharmacies, Juliusz Machulski's film "Kingsajz," or the mechanism that everyone experiences: compartmentalization.Wojtek Stanisz Quartet:
