Album Info

Release Date: 1986-05-21

Label: Riv.Star Records

Intended to be the debut single by Japanese idol Yasuko Endo, set to be released on May 21st, 1986.
Yasuko committed suicide by jumping from the roof of a seven floor building next to the building housing a café that her mother ran after a meeting with her manager and her mother in Asakusabashi, Taitou City on March 30th, 1986, approximately 2 months before the set release date of the single, leading the label to cancel the release immediately.

The music for the title track "In The Distance" was originally written and performed by Tetsuo Sakurai for Yasuko.
It was later featured in a new rendition with Yukoh Kusunoki on vocals on his 1986 album "Dewdrops".

It was thought that all copies of the record had been called back by the record label and destroyed, as that is what has been reported for the past 30 years, but at least one promotional sample record has survived.
It was sold for 11,500 yen on Yahoo! Auctions on August 2, 2022 by a private seller. The record was thought to be a piece of lost media until the auction was listed.

It still remains unclear whether or not only promotional sample records were pressed of the single, if more copies survived, or if any retail copies were ever pressed.
