The album features a New Year's Eve show recorded in December 1949, as Lum and Abner talk extensively about what they'll do on January 1st when the year 1950 knocks on their door. Lum also deals with a girl that seems to like him, but he's not really into her and he has a hard time figuring out what to tell her and how to tell it. Later on in the program, Andy Devine and Zazu Pitts enter the stage and the story unfolds.
