Rappers Rapp Disco Co. (Label)

The Rappers Rapp Disco Record Co. (also known as Rappers Rapp Records) was based in Hollywood, California and founded in 1981 by Duffy Hooks III & Jerry Hooks Sr. It is currently run by Lee "DJ Flash" Johnson and Cletus Anderson, The label's first release was "The Gigolo Rapp" by Disco Daddy & Captain Rapp. After this release, Duffy held auditions in Los Angeles for a second act to be called The Rappers Rapp Group, The group eventually consisted of five of L.A's top rappers: MC Fosty, Lovin C, King MC, Macker-Moe, Mr Ice and DJ Flash from Taft, California. Their first release was "Rappers Rapp Theme" bw "Rappin' Party Groove" in 1982.
One year later, Rich Cason published "Year 2001 Boogie" on Rappers Rapp. With this record, the style changed from the typical old school rap to a electronic wave sound with vocoders and rap. Rich Cason had a major influence on the following releases: "Magic Mike Theme" "Radio Activity Rapp" "Killer Groove" & "Bad Times (I Can't Stand it)". Also that same year, Duffy and Mikel Hooks released "West Coast Poplock" - California Knows How To Party" by Ronnie Hudson and The Street People on Mikel's label -Street People Records. Later, in 1986, the Brothers Supreme released the West Coast classic "We Can't Be Held Back" on the Rappers Rapp label.
