The Boardwalk Entertainment Co

US label
Label Code: LC 7394 / LC 07394
Los Angeles, California-based label, founded in 1980 by Neil Bogart after selling Casablanca Records to PolyGram. Best known for the early hits by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and Night Ranger. Around September 1980, label president Neil Bogart announced exclusive distribution through Bellaphon of Frankfurt Germany, the U.K., Switzerland and Austria. Branko Zivanovic, president of Bellaphon, saw the addition of Boardwalk firming Bellaphon's office in London, headed by Brian Taylor. Company dissolved after Bogart's death from leukemia two years later. Revived as an imprint of Reach Entertainment, Inc. in 1990, mainly reissuing the non-Joan Jett, Night Ranger and Phil Seymour output (including albums by the Ohio Players, Curtis Mayfield and R&B star Richard 'Dimples' Fields). It was sold to Margate Entertainment LLC in 2005 along with the RKO Unique masters and this incarnation is known for releasing all its new product on DVD.
