Derby
Record label from New York, NY (USA). (Do not confuse with Derby Records from Nashville, Tennessee.)
** For bootlegs, please see label: Derby (5)
Around July 1949, Larry Newton co-founded, co-owned, and co-managed Derby Records with Eddie Heller. It produced hits by the Eddie Wilcox Orchestra with Sunny Gale and Jaye P. Morgan. But Newton overextended, financially, and, in 1953, formed Central Records with Lee Magid. In 1954, Newton had to file for bankruptcy. The Derby masters were sold to RCA where Newton became an executive.
