Capitol Music Group

Capitol Music Group was formed in February 2007 as a merger of Virgin Records and its record label counterpart, Capitol Records in an effort by EMI Group to restructure the company. After the merger, Virgin and Capitol continued as labels under the new company.

Currently, the corporate group gathers various companies formerly under the now-defunct EMI, which (along with Virgin, Capitol and Priority Records) was acquired by the Universal Music Group in late 2012.

In February 2024, Capitol Music Group was merged with Interscope Geffen A&M to become Interscope Capitol Labels Group, a new music label unit under UMG.
