The Music-Lovers' Chest Of Records

Created by the Hecht Company, a Washington DC Department store. The Music-Lovers' Chest of Records was a 50 record collection, each one available for $.49 a record (or a deluxe version consisting of more durable materials for $.74 per record). They were to be contained in a physical chest, available for $.69 more. A 1941 advertisement boasts that the reason the records were available so cheap is because the performers were only paid a recording fee and not royalties.
