UNITELEDIS
Unitélédis was a French label founded by Maurice Séveno for the Parti socialiste (PS) in October 1973.
The company published at least thirty records, audio cassettes and other audiovisual content during the 1970s. The label was described as a "modern audiovisual instrument of the Party" to "develop a reflection on the meaning of audiovisual information from a socialist perspective". The records were marketed at low prices.
Uniteledis first release was "Venceremos, Solidarité Chili", released in November 1973, after the September 1973 military coup led by Augusto Pinochet in Chile. The Unitélédis catalog was used in particular for distributing electoral propaganda for the campaigns of of the 1973 and 1978 elections for the parliament, the Assemblée Nationale. Besides speeches by key PS personnel, such as its leader Francois Mitterand, the label also released musical records: Among these are releases of poems by Pablo Neruda set to music to support "gagged men and peoples", and releases of music by Archie Shepp and Max Roach, the latter protesting against apartheid in South Africa.
Unitélédis records were distributed by Le Chant du Monde. Uniteledis support was initially free for interested elected and "friendly" organizations. Uniteledis also brought technical support and information for journalists and press offices. The label was disbanded in 1979.
