MJC Records
1960s soul label from Kansas City, Missouri.
Formed by songwriter and booking agent Clarence Cooper, booking agent Allan Bell, and recently blacklisted soul singer Marva Whitney. The label name is derived from the "M" from Marva, the "C" from Cooper, and the "J" is long forgotten. The label saw only one single issued, the 1969 instrumental Hammond-funk special Louis Chachere - The Hen Part 1 / The Hen Part 2. Ellis Taylor (2)'s Forte Records would later reissue it and bridge the gap to yet another reissue on Paula Records.
