Redwood Records

Started in 1973 by Holly Near out of a desire to record and distribute music which she and Jeff Langley were writing and performing. By 1978, it had expanded and become a woman-owned and operated company to produce quality records by women from a variety of cultural experiences. The core group of women who ran the company were lesbian feminists. For them, lesbian feminism was both a politic and a lifestyle based on committing their energies to women and to to fighting all forms of oppression which face women around the world.
