Sonic Arts

Mastering and lacquer cutting studio in San Francisco, California (USA). It was also known as The Mastering Room, San Francisco.
Please use Sonic Arts for the digital authoring, mastering, transfer and duplication company located in London with an office in New York and Sonic Arts Recording for the Austin, Texas studio.

Sonic Arts was owned by Leo Kulka and located on the same premises as his recording studio Golden State Recorders. It also acted as a label which released an experimental series called the Laboratory Series. The studio was equipped with a Neumann lathe with variable pitch and depth control controlled with digital computer and VG66 cutting amp. Direct-to-disc recordings were also offered.

Cuts can be recognized by a symbol in the runouts that looks like the outline of a dash with protruding curves in the center (like ⊏◯⊐), or a larger dot in the middle of the dash. Usually there will be "SACC" or "SAC" or "SA" etched in the string as well.
