IZ

Also credited as IZ Disketxea, IZ Diskoetxea or IZ Diska Etxea.

Spanish label from San Sebastian (Basque Country). It was created in 1975 by five friends, including Fernando Unsain who became the director. The first steps focused on folklore, later they opened to jazz and rock in early 1980s.
The IZ label was published in its early years by "Distribuidora De Productos Magneticos S. A." (DPM) from Madrid, followed by "Txo", "Soinutek" and "Kuxart" based in Barcelona and Lazkao. From 1981 Kea will be the publisher. In 1987 they created the division Zarata Diskak that premiered with the disc of M-ak "Zuloa".
Other sublabels used by IZ were: Herrikoiz (IZ herrikoiz), Jazz IZ, IZ Rock.

IZ had a recording studio where lots of works where recorded, Estudios Iz. The studio was firstly located in Lazkao (Guipúzcoa). In 1980 they moved to the capital of Guipúzcoa, San Sebastian. Angel Katarain, Kaki Arkarazo and Mikel Usabiaga Urkola sound technicians, started their work there. In 1993 they moved to Villabona-Amasa, to the Etxezarreta farmhouse.

This label is no longer active. More than 400 references were released. Last new release dated in 2003.

Entire catalogue (around 440 releases) was bought by Ibaizabal.
