Sea of Wood was set up 2016 with a view to providing a platform for the under-represented artists and music of Yunnan. With a scope ranging from artist management to recording, publishing and festival production, the label has been instrumental in raising the profile of Yunnan music both domestically and internationally, having released a string of well received albums, culminating in The Rough Guide to the Music of Yunnan which was released in 2022 to critical acclaim.
