Hurt Records (Label)

Hurt Records is a British independent record label founded by Benn Down in 2014. The record label’s primary focus is to create high quality music for it’s fans. Hurt Records is unique in the fact that all releases on the label pass through a single studio complex, ‘Hurt Studios’. The purpose of the ‘single studio’ mindset is that complete control over the entire process of an album’s creation is attained and artistic integrity is maintained at a high standard.

Inspired by his involvement with a charity project, owner Benn Down decided to setup Hurt Records in the hope that other independent labels would follow his unshakable philosophy. In previous years Benn was involved with iTunes, Sony, Universal Music Group, Vevo and Tunecore and came to the conclusion that not only did these companies tie up their artists in uncompromising contracts, but their percentage share of the artist’s revenue was appalling. Benn decided to step down from these companies and invest his time in creating a ‘contractless’ Record Label that focused purely on the integrity of the sound recordings and bringing the artist’s visions to life.

Hurt Records only releases media on www.hurtrecords.com and does not rely on the larger conglomerates for sales. In this way, Hurt Records is able to release their content in the way that they wish. From standard AAC and MP3 tracks, to Audiophile 192kHz WAV and Apple Lossless files. Video content from Hurt Records is recorded in RAW 4K and is available in 4K, 2K and 1080p qualities. Hurt Records is also proud to offer ‘physical’ versions of some releases, these will normally be presented as DigiPacks and will ship worldwide.
