Ministério Da Educação E Cultura = Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) was a cabinet-level federal ministry of the Brazilian government, created in 1953 and which operated under that name until 1985, when it was separated into two, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture. The MEC was responsible for policies related to literature, arts, folklore and other forms of expression of national culture and for the historical, archaeological, artistic and cultural heritage of Brazil.
