Formed in 1980 as a partnership between the Ariola International Group, ex-CBS exec Ron Alexenburg, Hansa founder Peter Meisel, and Peter's wife Trudy, whose disco A&R achievements included helping to break Giorgio Moroder & Donna Summer in America. CBS handled pressing & distributing in the U.S., Quality Records in Canada, and Ariola in Mexico and parts of Europe. The first release on the label was Amii Stewart, Johnny Bristol - My Guy/My Girl.
