Elektroton

Yugoslav label, founded in Ljubljana in the former Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1937 or somewhat earlier.

At first, the company only owned a small plant situated in Ljubljana. In 1938, when Josip Križanec decided to relocate the company's production to Zagreb, its production line increased to 60,000 records per year. Mostly, these were records produced on foreign manufacturing license - English, German, Spanish, French, American and Italian pop music, which certainly influenced the domestic music production but did not directly effect its development.

Elektroton started recording its own records only in 1944.

After World War II ended, Elektroton was nationalized, and in 1947 Jugoton Records was established on its grounds.
