Sparrow Records

Sparrow is an American label founded in 1976 by Billy Ray Hearn.

In 1985, The Sparrow Corporation signed a distribution and promotion deal with Capitol Records and the Capitol logo began appearing on releases distributed beyond the Christian bookstore market.
If the Capitol logo appears on release, Capitol Records can be entered as an additional label.

Purchased by Thorn Emi in Oct, 1992. In 1994, Thorn Emi moved Sparrow Records under the EMI CMG Label Group division of its new EMI Christian Music Group (now Capitol Christian Music Group).

The stylized Sparrow logo was introduced in 1990. Any album originally released before that date that has the new logo is a post 1989 reissue.

The following letter prefixes are relevant to Sparrow's catalog system:

SGD - CD Single release
SPD - CD release
SPR - Vinyl release
SPC - Cassette release
