Romeo
US shellac label.
This was a 25ยข brand originally produced by the Cameo Record Corporation for the S. H. Kress dime stores. Introduced in July 1926, its early history is identical to that of the Cameo label. Romeo became part of the American Record Corporation line following an August 1929 merger, and remained as one of ARC's largest client labels throughout much of the 1930s. Separate race- and country music series were introduced in 1931. The label was finally discontinued in April 1938, along with ARC's remaining dime-store labels.
