Most of its output was licensed from other labels or released in conjunction with other specialised brands as Clever, Formule 1 or Julisa. Distributed in the USA first by Atlantic and then CBS Records.

Carrere was bought out by Warner in 1989/90 and the company / imprint was renamed Carrere Music. Claude Carrère remained president of Carrere Music until he retired in 1995, when Warner renamed it East West France.
