Corby Records
Record label founded by Steve Waltner, Dennis Hardesty and Doug Cox while Waltner was serving in the Air Force and was stationed near Corvallis, OR. Cox and Hardesty were based in Los Angeles. Waltner then returned to Los Angeles and the three founded Corby Productions (later rebranded as Corby Enterprises, Inc.), which took ownership of the Label.
Corby Record Productions has been formed here as an indie master producing company headed by Steve Waltner, Doug Cox and Dennis Hardesty. All three partners have been associated with
the record industry for several years, with Doug Cox, promotion man for Merit Distributing in Los Angeles; Dennis Hardesty, recording engineer for S & L Recorders in San Gabriel; and Steve Waltner, handling promotion, musical arranging and A&R work. Plans call for producing mainly top 40 material and later branching into R & B and Country. In addition to master producing, two labels, Corby and Big C will be used with a definite release schedule. Several artists have been signed which include: J. Michael and The Bushmen, Doug Corby, Steve Wilson, The Red Roosters, Ralph Geddes, and The Youngbloods. J. Michael and The Bushmen will have the next single release on the Corby label to be followed by an album. In addition to the Corby Record Productions, the same partnership operates Zulu Publishing, affiliated with BMI.
