Music For Pleasure entered the South African market in November 1970 as a joint venture between E.M.I. (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd. and Reed International. EMI bought out Reed in January 1971. In 1979-80 Music For Pleasure (Pty) Ltd. changed its name to EMI Music For Pleasure (Pty) Ltd. Currently (2022) still listed as a privately owned company (again as Music For Pleasure (Pty) Ltd.) in SA but possibly dormant.
