Black Saint

Set up in Italy by Giacomo Pellicciotti in 1975 before Giovanni Bonandrini took over in 1978. Subsequently run by his son, Flavio Bonandrini, the label had 30 years of history specializing in Jazz, Improvised, Experimental, Free and Avant Garde Music.

From 1975 to 1979, Black Saint releases were distributed by various companies (Harmony S.R.L., Rana s.r.l., EMI ITALIANA S.p.A., HI-FI & Record Center). And from 1979, IREC Milano distributed Black Saint releases. In July 1982, they began being distributed in the US by PolyGram Special Imports.

In 2008 Black Saint - together with the sister label for modern jazz, Soul Note - was acquired by C.A.M., a Rome-based company launched in 2000. CAM Jazz started reissuing the extensive Black Saint catalog counting over 190 albums, using the original artwork.
