R
R (2) was a Midwestern record label based out of Kansas City, Missouri from 1960 to 1963 that had several releases in the genres of rock & roll, country, rockabilly, pop, jazz, rhythm & blues, blues, novelty, and doo wop. The label name bears an "R" logo and often label perimeter text, "Our Record Co." or "Our Record Label". The label was started by country bass-player and song-writer Harold Hassler along with Bill and Leroy Davidson in 1960, after a run in the late '50s with the Choice (6) record label. The labels were centered on and distributed by Bill and Leroy Davidson's wholesale record warehouse and studio. The first single was Santa's Visit To Our House and the next two singles by Zig Dillon and Frank (Shake Aplenty) Frazier, were recorded by the aid of Sam Phillips and Scotty Moore of Sun Records. The Billy Eustis single for "The Rope" was produced by Sonny Thompson and recorded at the famous Chess Studios in Chicago.
