Freeburning Records

Freeburning Records, officially stylized as Freeburning Rekkid Shoppe, was an American independent record shop and mailorder distributor, established in 1997 by Nate "N8LOC" Shimizu and located on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, California. Closely associated with N8LOC's record label, N2O Records, the store similarly specialized in jungle, drum & bass, breakbeat, and other related genres. In the same spirit as Tuff Gong and Suburban Base Records, "Freeburning Shoppe" launched an in-house record label in the early 2000s, producing limited edition pressings for aspiring producers during the rise of "amen" era D&B in 2001–04. It's notable for releasing early EPs by Evol Intent and Diamond Geezer. Many pressings from Nitrous Oxide Records came out with "Freeburning" center labels advertising the shop (i.e., Murdah'n / Mathematical Chemistry (O.G. N8 Mix) 12"). After closing the brick-and-mortar location, "Freeburning" operated as an online retail shop and distributor for several years; all associated websites went defunct by the early 2010s.
