Polar

Polar is a Swedish label, founded in summer 1963 by Stig Anderson & Bengt Bernhag as a part of the Sweden Music publishing company. The very first act they signed was Björn Ulvaeus' band West Bay Singers which eventually was rechristened to Hootenanny Singers.
Bengt Bernhag was label's house producer until his death on 13 July 1971. After his death that role was overtaken by Björn Ulvaeus & Benny Andersson (until 1974).
The company was sold to PolyGram in 1989, and since 1999, Polar has operated as an imprint of Universal Music AB.
