In 1993 Pioneer LDC of America sets up an anime division in the U.S. Their first release on VHS and LD is Tenchi Muyo. On October 1st, 2003, following Dentsu's acquisition of Pioneer LDC, Pioneer Entertainment (USA) Inc. changes its name to Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc.
