Sony Records focuses on pop-oriented music. In 1998, non-Japanese artists were mostly moved to SME Records (from which they were moved again in 2001 to Sony Records Int'l), leaving only Japanese music on this imprint. It is one of currently 6 labels run by Sony Music Records.
