Horny Records
HORNY Records was created in July 1993 by Greg Hopping as a vehicle for one of Australia's first dance/techno bands, Edrenalin.
Greg was in the unique position of not being a pioneer producer & songwriter of new Australian music but also owning one of Sydney's most successful recording environments, NuTown Studio.
In 1995, after success with Edrenalin both at home and overseas, Greg saw the need to develop the label as a vehicle to promote the exciting new talents the Horny production team was working with, giving these artists a dedicated cutting edge label through which to release and promote their own music.
Horny Records is a label that understands the dance/techno genre and is commited to encouraging new ideas & directions while ensuring the wellbeing and musical integrity of its performers remains a top priority
In July 1995, Jim Shipstone (MD, BMG Music Publishing Australia 1987-95) was invited to join the board of horny as Greg's partner and fellow Director.
This collaboration is set to become a major force in Dance music, combining Greg's "Street cred" & producer/promoter expertise with Jim's knowledge and experience gained from years in records and publishing.
Horny records vision is to discover, develop, record and promote the great untapped wealth of talent in the Australian dance and techno music scenes that until now has lacked the support and expertise needed to establish itself in the international market.
