Kaiamba (Label)

“Kaiamba” is a record label that was created by Etienne Ratsiraka and Jean-François de Comarmond who wanted to highlight Malagasy artists. They then charged Charles Maurin Poty with organizing a competition called “Antsa 75” which aimed to unearth the hidden talents of Malagasy music. Charles Maurin Poty was therefore the artistic director of this national competition. It was a good thing because there were hundreds of participants. We selected the best who recorded under the “kaiamba” label and the success was immediate. Some of them have sold tens of thousands of records.
