Karusell

Do NOT confuse with the German label Karussell (with two "S")
Swedish pop and jazz label founded 1953 by Carl-Gustaf Niren and bandleader Simon Brehm. Important in introducing jazz in Scandinavia as licence releaser for Norman Granz's jazz labels in the 50's and 60's. Karusell releases were also available in Norway and Denmark, via the parent company's affiliates.
In 1962 the label was acquired by Deutsche Grammophon GmbH. From the early 1970s the label only remained in use in Sweden. In other countries, Karussell - with double 's' - was used.

In 2014, only the German counterpart still exists but under a slightly different spelling Karussell.  They had used the same logo, with inversed colors, until 1980.
