This series of 7" discs were a promotional vehicle for the Columbia and Epic (CBS) labels. For a $3 subscription fans could get regular mailings of 7" records, information on the artists featured and a feedback form. The tracks on Play:Back discs were generally newly released and not otherwise available on 7" at the time.
