Innovation II Records

1970s soul label from Chicago, Illinois.

Innovation II Records was founded by Carl Davis and E. Rodney Jones. It was initially distributed by Warner Bros as InnoVation II (and also InnerVision II for a couple of releases by Windy City). The WB production and distribution (P&D) deal ended by early 1975. Post Warners, the label design dropped the red border and the latter releases were on Innovation 2, IR. Innovation II was merged into the Chi-Sound label, distributed by UA (United Artists) which had success with artists such as: Gene Chandler, The Chi-Lites, Walter Jackson, Windy City, Carl Davis and Margie Alexander.
