Rainy Wednesday Records

USA
Record label started by Dickie Goodman. Goodman created the label as a vehicle for his trademark break-in/cut-up records. These records are early examples of sampling, using cut ups of then current hits (mainly soul and funk) combined with narration to create a story. Many of the themes are based around the numerous scandals of the President Nixon government. Goodman also produced another 'break-in' duo for the label, John Free and Ernest Smith - John & Ernest. Some of the labels releases have original Funk tunes on the b-sides, e.g. 'Problems', 'Crossover' and 'Jon And Jed's Theme'.
