Takehold Records
Christian-affiliated punk/hardcore record label founded by Chad Johnson in Birmingham, AL in the late 1990s following the demise of Slacker 66, a record store & venue run by Johnson. The label quickly gained notoriety in the Christian alternative scene and their artists started receiving attention from bigger labels like Tooth & Nail Records.
In 2002, Johnson sold the label to Tooth & Nail Records, licensed Takehold's back catalog for distribution and marketing, and took a position as an A&R representative with the label. Several Takehold artists (Further Seems Forever, Twothirtyeight, and Underoath, as well as The Operation side project mewithoutYou) were eventually signed to Tooth & Nail.
