The Video Collection

The first British budget video label, launched in 1985 by Futurevision Limited and initially exclusive to Woolworth and Superdrug. Soon expanded internationally as Strand Home Video in the US, Video Collection in France, and Video Coleccion in Spain with corresponding legal parent companies in each territory. Starting in the late 1980s, they were behind the Cinema Club (2) and Music Club budget labels. The parent company eventually merged into 2 Entertain which was finally acquired by BBC Worldwide Ltd. when their partner Woolworths went into liquidation in 2008.
