J Records (Label)

J Records was a private joint venture between former Arista CEO Clive Davis and BMG Entertainment, and was established after he was rehired by BMG Music (which initially had forced his retirement from Arista Records in 2000). The label was a part of the RCA Music Group, itself a unit of Sony Music Entertainment.
In September 2011, J Records, alongside Jive, Arista and LaFace Records were all absorbed by Sony with its flagship label, RCA, bringing all of its artists to the RCA family.
