The company was founded around Christmas 1976, by Leif Bigert, who was CEO and owner initially. They took over the assets from Bigert's other company Toniton AB, who was under threat of bankruptcy. Over the years, SOS too was ran to the brink of bankruptcy several time, and had contractual arguments with several of their artists. In 1983, Bigert sold 90% of shares to Danish auditing firm Frans Thomsen. The company Sound of Scandinavia Recording Aktiebolag 556185-8936 and side firm Sound of Scandinavia Publishing finally went bankrupt 1984-11-01.
