Moonglow

Belgian-US American label founded by René Jan van Hoogten a.k.a. Ray Maxwell.

Originally a subsidiary of Ronnex Records, in the late 1950s René was sent to the USA by his brother Albert Van Hoogten to set up the label there. The label was first based in New York, later in Hollywood. An independent American branch was also founded: Moonglow Records Inc. In 1963 it signed a distribution deal with ATCO Records. In 1967, after their best known act The Righteous Brothers was leased to Philles Records and no new successes were found, Van Hoogten sold the masters to Verve Records.
