Minos

Pioneer Greek label founded on December 1968 by Μάκης Μάτσας (company name was "Μίνως Μάτσας & Υιός Α.Ε." - "Minos Matsas & Son") replacing Odeon. It was the first label in Greece that released records of rebetiko musicians.
The name "Minos" was given to the label as a tribute to Makis Matsas' father, Μίνως Μάτσας.
The first LP was Ο Σταθμός that bore the cat# MSM 101.

In October 1990, the Greek EMI branch purchased the majority share of Minos Matsas & Son Company, forming a new company, Minos-EMI S.A..
Many releases after that date bear only the Minos logo and belong under this profile.
Please enter Minos-EMI as label ONLY if the Minos-EMI logo is present (or both Minos and EMI logos are present).
