Toast And Jam Recordings
History:
In 1999 Toast and Jam recordings was created by Alex Norman and Daniel Dannenberg. Dan has since left but in 2002 Chris Jones aka Yard joined up with T and J. Max Johnson has also joined up with TandJ as our NW sales representative. In September of 2005 Ashby Collinson, long time Toast and Jam friend, art contributor and demo critic started doing our mail order and whole sale.
Mission:
We distribute original music in the CD-r format. We created Toast and Jam to release our own music as well as music by other people we enjoy. Most of our releases have been electronic, ambient and/or experimental but we aren't necessarily confining ourselves to that, we are open to all sorts of interesting music. Toast and jam makes no money, we use all funds and profits as the base finances for our releases, effectively making the consumer a link in the production chain. At Toast and Jam we primarily utilize archival CD-rs for our releases. This format allows us to release good-quality music, on a stable and durable medium, which can then be purchased at a reasonable price due to its low overhead cost. An added benefit of using cd-r technology with minimal packaging is that our environmental impact is significantly reduced. Each cd-r release comes with a paper insert and a 5" plastic (or chipboard) sleeve, with all artwork done by local artists. The final results are releases which contain professional quality audio of new/underground artists pushing the limit in the digital/electronic/experimental fields. Recently we have expanded our formats to include vinyl and dj mix tapes, however, the emphasis still remains on providing affordable music for your listening [dis]pleasure.
Most of the Toast & Jam catalog has been made available for free mp3 downloads here.
